You are buying a working Sophisticated Circuits PowerKey Pro 200 power control center for vintage ADB Macintosh computers. IMHO Sophisticated Circuits PowerKey products were among the cleverest and best 3rd-party accessories for vintage Macintosh computers. Tired of reaching around behind your vintage Mac SE or SE/30 to turn it on or off? Well, guess what: This control center allows you to start up any ADB Macintosh with at least 4MB of memory and running System 7 or later by using the soft power key found on most ADB keyboards and to turn off the Mac’s power completely by using the Apple shut down menu. And, yes, it also works with ADB Macs that already can be power up and down up using an ADB keyboard’s soft power key. The PowerKey Pro 200 has six grounded outlets. One is always on. The others are arranged in two groups, one a single outlet usually used for the computer and the other a cluster of four outlets intended for printers, hard drives, etc. that turn on and off as a group under software control. The PowerKey Pro 200 also includes a circuit breaker and heavy-duty surge protection to protect all the outlets. Want more? The PowerKey Pro 200 has modular telephone jacks. Connected to a phone line you can turn on your ADB Mac with a phone call and shut it down automatically after certain events occur. And you can program your PowerKey Pro to restart your Mac automatically after a power failure. The software included with the PowerKey Pro can sequence the order in which the outlets turn on and off, schedule events to start up your Mac at specified times, automatically run tasks like backups, and do many other cool things. Sadly, Sophisticated Circuits went out of business a while back and PowerKey Pro units are hard to find. This one is complete and has been tested to work. I connected it to one of my Mac SE’s using the special ADB branching cable (next to last photo) and installed the PowerKey software. Voila: I could power on and boot up my SE using the soft power key on the ADB keyboard and turn it off completely using the Apple shut-down menu. This listing includes a PK2-M1 PowerKey Pro 200 outlet controller, the special branching ADB cable, PowerKey software, and installation instructions. I bought this PK-2 when I was living in Japan in 2000 and the manuals and software are in Japanese. But I am including a copy of the English version of the software on a floppy disk and abreviated instructions in English (see photos). The full 108-page English manual explaining how to program all the PowerKey Pro special features can be downloaded free on the web as a PDF. If you have a vintage ADB Mac that does not have soft power control or if you just want more control over peripheral devices and event scheduling you will love this.
