This auction is for a vintage hand painted metal figure of Madame du Barry. She was apparently a «low» born woman who rose to become a consort of King of France Louis XV. This figure was made in France by the Vertunni firm. The figure is 2 7/16″ tall. The figure is hollow cast and then the base was filled in at the factory. Stamped by the factory into the underside of the base, in ink, is «Made in France.» Most of that is covered up by an original price sticker from Bullock’s (a high end L.A. department store in business from 1907 – 1995. On that, very faded, you can see what I think is an original price of $6.60. I had a group of these once with original Saks Fifth Avenue stickers, and they were all $1.00. The original owner also wrote her name on the label but it is very faded. This figure came in a group with 16 other Vertunni. Some of those have price tags from F.A.O. Schwarz. Vertunni seems to have been most active just fter WW2 and into the early 1950’s. Shipping: My auctions end on Saturday. If you pay by 5:00 E.S.T. on Sunday I’ll have them in the mail on Monday. Payments made later in the week or purchases made from my store are shipped as soon as I can get to the Post Office, but that can take several days. I combine shipping on all purchases made and paid for at the same time (unless you’re combining a book and toys as books use inexpensive media mail in the U.S. while toys can’t). I use First Class (up to 16 oz) and Priority mail. Books ship media mail. I only charge actual postage – no added fees. I use lots of bubble wrap, peanuts, and good boxes. In a group of multiple pieces each item is wrapped individually. Original boxes or other original paper item go into a plastic bag in case you get delivery on a rainy day. International Shipping: I gladly ship international. Please note that there can be lengthy delays at Customs.
